Interview with Veronica E. Ramirez

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?

I usually try to spend as much time as I can with my family and my dog, Fendy. I also like to read a lot and catch up on any movies I might have missed.

When did you first start writing?

I first started writing when I was in middle school but I realized I wanted to make writing my career in my freshman year of high school.

What motivated you to become an indie author?

Honestly, traditional publishing. I don't know how much time I spent reading about the differences of traditional publishing and self publishing. What pushed me towards indie publishing was that the rights stayed with me and I had full control over the price, design, and when it was published.

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?

The greatest joy of writing for me is that I can create any world that I want to and create stories about characters who feel real.

What are you working on next?

As of now, I am working on two different projects. Currently, they do not have titles yet but I am excited to keep working on them and hope to release some details soon.

Who are your favorite authors?

I have a couple of favorite authors. Suzanne Collins, Ally Condie, Juliana Stone, and Nicholas Sparks. I read the whole Family Stone series in less than a week. And I have the Hunger Games series and I love to re-read them whenever I can.

What is your writing process?

My writing process is a little all over the place. I never use an outline when I write. It has never worked for me and anytime I try to use one it gets me stuck. I try to just sit down and write. And if there ever comes to a point where I do get stuck, I move on to a different project for a while and then go back with fresh eyes.

How long does it take you to write a book?

It depends. The book I'm working on currently, I've been writing for about a two years. But I worked on Play the Game for about five before I released it.

If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. I would love to answer any questions that you have for me.
